My passion is to help the Xhosa people and to be Gods hands & feet by helping them as a physiotherapist. There is still so much poverty, injustice and lack of healthcare in this world and by going I hope to make a difference. In this past year I can say that I felt more alive than I’ve ever felt before! To really follow the dream God has for me, which is going to be even bigger then I can imagine. That’s what He has shared with me several times: to GO,to TRUST and to keep DREAMING. I would love to keepyou up to date with all that is happening at the Wildcoast. |

From January till June 2011 I have done a DTS (Discipleship Training School) with YWAM (Youth with a Mission). I could have never imagined that this time would be so life changing. I’ve seen God doing so many amazing things in my life that I can’t do anything else but to hand over my life and my future to Him. After my DTS, I worked on the YWAM medical ship as a physiotherapist. In Papua New Guinea God broke my heart for the poor and people in need. There was such a lack of health care and seeing all this gave me a little taste of how His heart cries out for His people. During my time on the ship I prayed about the next step that was to be taken in this new adventure with God and in a very special way I got into contact with Zithulele hospital. When I saw their Youtube video there was such a connection, something I have never experienced before (http://youtu.be/epgxH34Er9E ☺). All the tools and desires He has given me in my heart over the last couple of years can be put to practice there. Matt 28:18‐20 became reality for me. This hospital is originally a missions hospital and is based in a remote part of the Wild coast in the eastern cape province of South Africa. It provides primary health care services for a catchment area of 130.000 people and has gone through a major change since 2005. When the two doctors first arrived there was hardly any healthcare available in this extremely poor area and they started to build like Nehemiah did. A lot of improvements have been made and the building continues still…. God has really given me the desire to build with them. My desire is to help the Xhosa people with their physical problems as a physiotherapist. But to also see the true person behind the physical problem. To meet people in their physical, mental and spiritual needs. This text has inspired me and has become so real to me over the last couple of months: Isaiah 58: 6‐9: Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen; to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke. Is it not to share your food with the hungry and provide the poor wanderer with shelter, when you see the naked to clothe him and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood? Then your light will break forth like the dawn and your healing will quickly appear then your righteousness will go before you and the glory of the Lord will be your rear guard. Then you will call and the Lord will answer; you will cry for help and he will say Here am I. |
