XRDS 15+ Serve Sunday
The 15+ group spent the first month of the New Year discussing spiritual gifts and how we can use them. We also talked about how the church functions as a body. Each person/part doing what it was made to do so other parts would not have to compensate. So why are we telling you this?
Update on youth department
Daniel de Wet has accepted a teaching position at a church in South Africa, and plans to leave around the end of August. We are sad to see him go, but rejoice with him as he is following his calling to teach and preach. Daniel and Elmien, with their children, will be moving back to a place in South Africa called Knysna. Sunday August 28 we will have a BBQ at church and you will have a chance to say goodbye to him.
For the 15+ youth group we have recruited Tory Almond on staff.
Will you help teenagers to discover God?
In September we will start a new group! Young teenagers, ages 10 – 12, often feel too old for the Children's Church and they are too young for the youth group. What are we to do?? We are starting a new active program called Rock Steady, offering a mix of crazy games and deep conversations.
Christmas at the farm 2010
On the 18th of December we had our annual Christmas at the farm at the 'Clara Maria' farm. The volunteers of Crossroads and King's Kids worked together to make this event happen.
DAD-KID CAMP 2010
Last weekend, September 10-12, 34 dads and 46 children took part together in the yearly "dad kid camp." A team of 12 volunteers served the dads and children, and once again organized an amazingly fun event.
Poldersport, fun and following Jesus
A couple of days ago a group of Crossroads teenagers and youth leaders discovered the true 'polder' sensation by spending a day in the green fields and refreshing water of De Kwakel.
Youth Retreat
The Crossroads Youth Group had their retreat this past weekend in Huizen. It was a great time to learn more about God, build community, and have a lot of great laughs. The topics for the teaching sessions were: Choices, Prayer, Relationships, and Baptism. By dividing into smaller groups, the youth and leaders were able to discuss these topics on a deeper level. Praise the Lord for youth who were willing to be open and share what struggles and joys they are feeling in these areas and others!
