Becoming a Member
Crossroads Church is a member-based organisation. This means that our members are the core stakeholders in our ongoing vision. The team of Elders who lead the church are selected from our membership, and for certain more sensitive volunteer roles in our community membership is essential. Because we do not belong to any wider denomination or association, the role of members in setting direction for the church is vital. Members have the opportunity to shape and influence the ministries of the church in a number of ways. We hold a formal Annual Meeting through which members are able to both hear from and speak to the Elder Board, and we are developing alongside this other ad-hoc opportunities for member consultation.
Becoming a member involves being in agreement with our statutes and vision, and most people explore these through one of our regular ‘Membership seminars’.
If you are unable to attend one of these, it is still possible to become a member as the same material can be covered in a one-on-one meeting with one of our leaders or staff team.
At heart membership is an opportunity to say ‘Yes’ to what God is doing through Crossroads church. It is a means by which we can say ‘this is my spiritual home’ and can move from being passive consumers of Crossroads ministries to being active participants in church-building. Members both give to and receive from the community they belong to, and enjoy the benefits of uniting together in the fulfilment of shared vision.
