Baptisms at Crossroads

At Crossroads we are all on a journey.

We are all different people and we seek God in different ways.

Some of us have been traveling for a long time, others are just starting.

At Crossroads we want to travel together and encourage each other as we pursue God in our lives. We find it important to be an inviting and authentic community in which we can pursue God together. We would love for you to join us.

Public declaration

One of the great high points of the journey is when we celebrate people's lives being changed and transformed by God's Holy Spirit. One way we do that at Crossroads is at baptisms. Some time after people accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, we baptize them in the name of God the Father, Jesus the Son and the Holy Spirit (the Trinity).

It is a public event in which the person being baptized shares that he or she is a Christ follower.

Immersion

We do this at Crossroads by immersion. We follow the model that Jesus set for us and He tells his followers to do the same. Immersion is a beautiful metaphor of what Jesus did for us when he died (when we go under the water) and rose again (when we come out of the water). We die to ourselves and we receive a new life through Christ.

Lifestyle

The act of baptism does not save us. We are saved by grace because of the person Jesus. Baptism is a public statement that we are following Jesus and we will follow Him in all things. It is our lifestyle!

Practical Points

What do you need to do if you want to be baptized?

1. Be in touch with us.

We would like to hear your story of how you connected with and started to follow Jesus.

* You can call the office at 020 – 545 1444
* Or you can also email baptisms@xrds.nl and share your story that way.
* Or you can fill out a communication card at church on Sundays and we will be in touch with you by phone or email.

Whichever way you prefer to communicate with us, please make sure that you mention your phone number so we can get in touch with you!

2. Attend a pre-baptism meeting.

One week before the actual baptism Sunday we will have a meeting with all baptism candidates. In this meeting you will discover more about what baptism means and what Crossroads stands for. Also during this meeting you will meet other followers of Jesus who are interested in baptism and hear their story and share yours as well. We will also talk about the practical details of the actual Baptism Sunday.
